Think About Your Vote

Think About Your Vote

IT IS election time again and political parties are campaigning and launching their election manifestos as well.

The fact is that I’m disappointed to see these campaigns full of racism, tribalism, discrimination and hate speeches by our senior political leaders in this country. They are setting a bad example. What bothers me most is how on earth will such people be able to promote welfare among the citizens of this country – the same people who voted them into power? When will the politicians stop enriching themselves while ordinary people are suffering? Are we forgetting about the promises they made before, such as free education, eradication of poverty, creation of jobs, opportunities, equality and much more. Are we Namibians still going to allow ourselves to be fooled? Come on Namibians, the time is now and it is never too late to make a change and protect our hard-won independence. I therefore call upon my countrymen and women to go out to the polling stations in great numbers and to vote wisely and thoughtfully.M J NdeulikufaVia e-mailNOTE: We have received a number of letters from Polytechnic students who, it appears, have been requested to write around the issue of corruption. We will gladly publish their contributions, but would request students not to simply plagiarise, but to acknowledge sources when it comes to using reference material, and write up their opinions in their own words. They cannot pass off material they have plagiarised as their own and neither can we publish such contributions as it makes the newspaper guilty of plagiarism as well. – Ed
