The police in the Erongo region are investigating the deaths of three individuals whose bodies were discovered in separate locations after they were reported missing last year.
The incidents, classified as unnatural deaths, occurred at Tubusis, Otjimbingwe and Okombahe.
According to Erongo police spokesperson chief inspector Ileni Shapumba yesterday, the decomposed body of an unidentified man, believed to be in his late 40s, was discovered at farm Tubusis on 18 January.
The body was discovered by a herder who immediately alerted authorities.
According to the police, the man, yet to be identified, had worn green shorts and no shirt or shoes. Authorities estimate that he died over a month ago.
“Efforts to locate the deceased’s family have been unsuccessful so far,” Shapumba said.
A week later, on 25 January, a farm owner discovered human remains, including a backbone, ribs, and skull, on the outskirts of Otjimbingwe while searching for his cattle.
Police authorities dispatched to the scene confirmed that the remains are those of Katrina Booi, who was reported missing on 10 August 2024.
A family member identified the remains, but forensic investigations will be conducted for final confirmation.
On Tuesday this week, a resident of farm Okatjio in the Okombahe area discovered the decomposed body of Andries Oaeb, a 34-year-old man who had been reported missing on 25 December last year. The body was found in a field on the farm.
Authorities have indicated that no foul play is suspected at this stage, but a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Oaeb’s next of kin have been informed and investigations are ongoing.
The police urged anyone with information regarding these cases to contact them. – Nampa
