The Namibian police have confirmed three murders over the weekend.

The body of an unidentified man was discovered at the Northern Industrial Area in Windhoek on Saturday, police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi has said.

“It is alleged that the deceased, who was found next to the B1 road, was attacked by unknown suspect/s and succumbed to the injuries he sustained,” Shikwambi said.

She added that the deceased has not yet been identified and the suspect/s are unknown.

The body was taken to the mortuary for further handling.

In another incident in Windhoek, the body of an unknown man was discovered on Friday in Ombungu street, Okuryangava.

According to the police, a passer-by discovered the deceased, who is suspected to be in his mid-thirties, lying in a pool of blood.

“From preliminary investigations, it seems that the deceased was stabbed or slashed on the lower back knee of the right leg. No arrest has been made at this stage,” Shikwambi said.

Police have also reported the death of an 82-year-old man after he was allegedly slashed with a panga by a 42-year-old man with a mental illness at Oshilulu village at Okahao on Friday.

The suspect allegedly attacked the deceased while he was sitting on a chair in the mahangu field outside his homestead.

She added that the motive of the attack is unknown, as the suspect has a mental illness.

Police investigations continue in all the incidents.
