Tigers aim to hunt down Stars

Tigers aim to hunt down Stars

TIGERS will hope to chase African Stars into the ground, when the two Katutura-giants square up in what could turn out an electrifying premiership clash at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tonight. Kick-off is 20h00.

With their tails up after a 2-0 victory over Civics late last week, Tigers go into the encounter as the favourites in what could be a tough test for defending champions African Stars.Stars, like Tigers, also have a win and a draw from their two matches and will have ambitions to start building their terrific record they held last season, by dispatching bitter rivals Tigers tonight. Both teams are meeting for the first time on the Astroturf and will see former teammates Bobby Samaria and Brian Isaacs going up against each other, this time as coaches.Samaria successfully steered Stars to their first league title in over 10 years last season and like his predecessors, always found it tough to beat Tigers.Samaria is expected to field his best side after Tigers showed huge signs of improvement in their past two league matches since Isaacs took over, while they also had a successful pre-season run when they won the FNB Football Expo.Stars, which were held to a 1-all draw by Black Africa at the weekend, will want to forget that result and will aim to start getting the needed points as their demanding supporters will not be satisfied with a draw or a loss this time around.Tigers also have the pressure to perform and show their current consistent form since they started the league and for Isaacs, the pressure will pile up as his employers are excited about the prospects of the team and will settle for nothing but a win. A huge turnout is expected at the state-of-the-art facility tonight, while top-quality football is in the offing. corry@namibian.com.na
