Top Cheri encourages creativity with Kiddies Concert

AWARD-WINNING musician and entrepreneur Monica ‘Top Cheri’ Pineas has taken it upon herself to help nurture young creative entrepreneurs by coming up with a Kiddies Concert and Play Day.

The ‘Omapendafule’ hitmaker told unWrap.online that the event, which is slated for 3 December at the Doc Jubber fields in Olympia, Windhoek, will be a platform for young children to showcase their talent in singing, dancing and acting.

The event also aims to encourage young people to become entrepreneurs, through the addition of stalls.

“Platforms like these are really very rare in our midst, where kids can come and have a good time. Where they are putting away the gadgets, they’re switching off the TV and just going out there to spend the day with their parents, because it will also be a form of bonding,” Top Cheri said.

The idea came to her following the Covid-19 pandemic, when she noticed that many children had become detached from the real world.

“They should be able to take off their shoes and play in the sand, in the grass and also with other kids. Also to have a good time with their parents, which also helps build their confidence. We would want these kids to be performing on stage, which will also create confidence,” she said.

Parents will soon be allowed to book stalls for children eager to provide a service or sell their goods. Children who’d like to perform, will be able to audition soon by uploading a short video of their talents to social media, and tagging the official Kiddies Concert social media pages.
