Top Taxi Nearing its Climax

When Petrus Siwoko received the call announcing him as the latest Top Taxi winner, he could not contain his joy. “This competition is very good because it rewards drivers who are setting the example on the roads every day and it feels good to be recognised for that,” he said with a big smile.

As part of his winnings, he received a N$3000 cash prize from Standard Bank Namibia, a medical aid kit from Namibia Medical Care and an assortment of car care products for his taxi.

When asked what he plans to use his winnings on, he went on to say “for Christmas, I’m planning to go up to the North with my family, so the prize money will go towards getting my car ready for the journey there and back”.

The Top Taxi Project is a road safety initiative by Radio Kosmos, Windhoek City Police, Shoprite, Standard Bank, NMC and The Namibian. A first in Africa, the Top Taxi project has been running since 9 April this year and will end on a high on 9 December 2014.
