Top Taxi Still Going Strong

Zizerio Carlo Coetzee has been announced as the latest Top Taxi winner. Having been driving part time for the last 15 years, there’s very little that could surprise this ever-friendly driver.

And if there’s one thing he has learnt during all those years, it’s to take your time and not chase the money. “You see so many drivers chasing that N$10 so aggressively that they often damage their vehicles or end up paying half their wages in fines.

All that just makes the job more stressful and much less profitable,” he says.

“If we taxi drivers could just work together, it will all be less stressful and then we can bargain together to change the attitudes of other road users and especially our customers.”

“Who knows, maybe we could even get them to stop slamming our doors and eating in our cars,” he jokes.

Top Taxi is a Kosmos Radio initiative and is supported by the Windhoek City Police, Standard Bank, EmedRescue24, Shoprite, AutoExec Panelbeaters and The Namibian.

Each week, the public gets to vote for their best taxi driver and the winner then receives N$3 000 in cash from Standard Bank, a range of small prizes and a well-deserved executive valet by the car whisperers at AutoExec.

They receive their prizes after enjoying a lovely breakfast on the Kosmos Radio promotional balcony with representatives from the sponsors each Friday.

Watch the press for more details on how you can be part of this exciting competition.
