Tura Magic finally won the FNB Women’s Super League title after beating V Power Angels 4-1 on Saturday.
With their closest rivals Girls & Goals losing 1-0 to Unam Bokkies, Tura Magic opened up an 11-point lead at the top of the log and cannot be caught anymore.
On Saturday, V Power Angels gave a fine performance and held their own against the champions, who took a while to break their resistance down.
A long-range Thomalina Adams freekick hit the post, while another effort by Lee Zan Rooi hit the back of the net but was disallowed for an earlier infringement.
V Power nearly took a shock lead when Emma Naris’ backpass rolled inches wide of the goals after goalie Agnes Kauzuu had slipped, while Debora Vries also came close to scoring for the Angels.
Tura, however, took a decisive lead with two goals in quick succession towards the end of the first half.
Naris opened the scoring with a bullet header from a corner, while Lovisa Mulunga made it 2-0 with a long-range lob that went high into the net.
Adams effectively sealed their victory with a cracking freekick, but V Power opened their account when Nancy Lebang ran onto a fine throughball to score from close range.
Tura Magic increased their attacks with Adams, Chanteline Engelbrecht and Anna Shikusho all coming close to scoring, before Lovisa Mulunga added a fourth goal after a fine buildup by Memory Ngonda.
That win put Tura on 68 points at the top of the log, with one match to play, while Girls & Goals, who have two matches remaining, are now 11 points behind on 57, after their defeat to Unam Bokkies.
That win saw Bokkies joining third-placed Beauties FC on 56 points.
