Two NamWater employees died while fixing a water pump at the Kavango River on Thursday.

Matheus Shilemba and Martin Maseke died at the scene.

Kavango West regional chief inspector Raimbeth Muronga confirmed the incident, saying Shilemba and Maseke were shocked and died at the scene at Nankudu village at Tondoro.

“The deceased were allegedly trying to fix a machine that pumped water from the river to the community,” he said.

Muronga said Shilemba was a resident of Nankudu village, and Maseke of Kahenge village.

“Their remains were transported to Nkurenkuru police mortuary pending autopsy,” he said.

Their next of kin have been informed of the incident and police investigations continue.

This incident follows that of a teacher from Elia Neromba Secondary School in the Kavango East region dying after being electrocuted in the bathroom of a guest house while attending a workshop on Wednesday.

Maria Katega (40) died at Siruwo Guest House at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West region.
