Two Namibian students die in SA

Two Namibian students died in a motorcar accident in Cape Town on 12 August.

This was confirmed by the executive director in Namibia’s Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Penda Naanda.

“The deceased have been identified as Coverdale Ngatangue Pandereepo and David Nghinomwami Sheya Nashidengo, who were both 26-years-old,” he said on Monday evening.

Naanda told The Namibian that they died in a car crash in Cape Town at about 01h00 on Saturday, 12 August. He added that a third Namibian male sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

The families of the two boys, Nashidengo and Pandereepo, told The Namibian that they were told they were avoiding rocks which were put in the road by striking taxi operators.

“The young man who survived was identified as 27-year-old Dylan Ndeupao Germano, who was admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town,” Naanda said.

According to Naanda, the three men were traveling in a vehicle on the N1 national road at the Koeberg interchange to Cape Town’s CBD, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned.

“It is said that the two men died at the accident scene, due to the nature of injuries sustained, while the passenger on the back seat survived the crash,” he explained.
