Two government employees were on Tuesday fined N$15 000 each in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court for the illegal possession of two reedbuck.

Tibelelo Metelabi (55) and Reagen Mubonda (50) were arrested on Saturday at a roadblock the police set up, hoping to arrest housebreaking suspects.

When the police stopped and searched the accused’s vehicle, they found two poached reedbuck worth N$5 000 each.

Upon interrogation, it was found that the accused were not in possession of hunting permits, and the police further discovered illegal game meat stored at their homes.

Metelabi and Mubonda pleaded guilty before magistrate Clara Mwilima and paid their fines on Wednesday.

The state was represented by Cynthia Matiti.
