Unam stretched their lead at the top of the Omina Supplies Indoor Hockey Men’s Premier League with two convincing victories over the weekend.

On Friday they beat DTS 5-2 and the next day Wanderers by the same scoreline to sound a warning to their rivals that they will not let go of their title easily. Unam have dominated indoor hockey over the past decade, winning the title for the past eight years in a row and on the weekend’s performances it seems unlikely that they will relinquish their title.Their match against DTS on Friday started on an explosive note with three goals in the opening four minutes.Siabonga Martins put Unam ahead from a short corner, but DTS immediately drew level from the restart after a fine solo goal by Sedric Makati.Unam soon restored their lead when Martins intercepted a pass and set Heini Swartbooi free who shot into the net.With Joseph Kashamako and Siabonga Martins combining effectively, Unam gradually started to exert their control and Dunstan Haufiku put them 3-1 up just before halftime.DTS reduced the gap with a great diving goal by Wayne van der Linde after the break, but further goals by Swartbooi and Martins gave Unam a comfortable win.FLYING START FOR WANDERERS On Saturday, Wanderers got off to a flying start, with Ettienne de Villiers scoring within 15 seconds.But with Kashamako, Martins and Swartbooi displaying great combinations and individual skills, the chances started opening up for Unam.They drew level through Heini Swartbooi and then went further ahead through goals by Kashamako and Martins.Martins put Unam 4-1 ahead from a short corner in the second half, but Wanderers immediately fought back with a fine solo goal by Francis Fuscher.Joseph Kashamako ensured Unam’s bonus point after scoring a great solo goal when he weaved past a few defenders before slotting the ball into the net.WOB bEAT X Team In another Men’s Premier League match, the X Team from the coast nearly shocked Windhoek Old Boys before the WOB won a closely contested match 5-4.Johan Jurgens and Coenie Fourie each scored two goals for WOB while Sean McCullough added another.For the X team Fabio Silhen scored a brace and Rudi Germishuys and Franklin Otto one goal each.Unam are now comfortably ahead on the log with now lead the log with 12 points from three matches, while WOB are second on seven points from three matches.DTS are third on three points, while Wanderers and the X Team still have to open their account.LAST MINUTE VICTORY In a Women’s Premier League match on Friday, Unam beat DTS through a last minute goal by Theodora Kariko.Unam had several more chances but DTS keeper Bianca Bates kept them out with some fine saves.For DTS Charlize van der Linde had a fine game, but they could not find the net.On Saturday, WOB easily beat Sparta 6-1.Marcia Venter scored four goals for WOB, while Jerrica Cormack and Bauke Heemskenk each scored one for WOB.WOB, DTS and Unam are now all tied on four points at the top of the log, with goal difference giving WOB a slight lead.Wanderers are on one point, while Sparta still have to
