A group of unhappy South West Africa National Union (Swanu) members on Thursday demonstrated and submitted a petition to Swanu acting secretary general, Uno Hengary, demanding an extraordinary congress to vote for a president to represent the party in the forthcoming elections.
This follows divisions that split the party over two congresses held in 2021.
The protesters stressed that there is no unity in Swanu and they believe an extraordinary congress will improve matters.
Hengary wasn’t available to receive the petition, which was accepted by the receptionist on his behalf.Meanwhile, a separate Swanu faction is reportedly briefing the media at parliament.
