Van Wyk wins fifth monthly medal competition

Jan van Wyk won the fifth Windhoek Lager Monthly Medal competition at the Windhoek Golf & Country Club over the weekend. 

A total of 70 players participated in unpleasant, windy conditions, with Van Wyk winning the competition with a nett total of 69.

Burger Bergh won the A division with a total of 71, while Johannes Goagoseb, Stephen Pell and Milton Eiseb all finished on 72, and Graeme Fransman, George Vink and Fergusson Paulse on 73. 

Wisdom Moyo won the B division with a total of 75, followed by Ian Wood and Petrus du Pisani on 76, while Quintin Esterhuizen won the C division on 70, followed by Andre Visser and Heinrich Schmidt on 75. 

Hansina Hinda won the women’s competition with a total of 77, followed by Suene Venter on 78 and Evelyn Paulino on 79. 

Three golfers won nearest-to-the-pin prizes namely Wessel Louw on the third hole, Bertus Damon on the 13th hole and Monty Rukoro on the ninth and 17th holes. 

The medal series will be used to determine the medal champion of the year, while the competitors will qualify for the Tournament of Champions at the end of the year where the best 24 players will compete over 54 holes in two groups of 12.
