Two female passengers were killed when a Volkswagen Golf sedan they were travelling in from Tsumeb overturned near Otavi.

“Three passengers and the driver sustained slight injuries, and were rushed to the Tsumeb hospital for treatment,” Kanguatjivi stated.

The deceased were identified as Selma Hanamus and Immany Hanamus, and their next of kin have been informed.

In another accident between Otjiwarongo and Otavi, two female passengers – Hulda Booys and Tanja Josob – were killed when the driver of the minibus they were travelling in lost control of the vehicle, and it overturned.

Five other passengers were injured, while the driver escaped injury. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.

At Kambumbu village near Kahenge, a silver Kia Rio sedan ran over a pedestrian who was crossing the road with a baby on her back.

The woman, identified as Namukwata Mulyeni, died on the spot while her eight-month-old baby Gotfried Matyayi died at the Nankudu hospital.

“The driver was arrested, and police investigations continue,” said the report.

According to Kanguatjivi, the driver of a double-cab bakkie lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, killing two passengers just outside Swakopmund on Saturday.

The two unidentified passengers died on the spot, while the two other occupants sustained injuries of varying degrees. Police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the driver of a white Volvo tour bus which was carrying 65 pupils from the Windhoek Gymnasium Private School lost control of the bus between Kalkrand and Mariental.

The bus overturned, and two pupils were killed on the spot.

“The rest of the pupils suffered injuries ranging from slight to serious, and were rushed to the Mariental State Hospital for treatment,” added the report.

The next of kin of the deceased, Angela Maiba and Jacques Venter, have been informed, and the driver has been arrested. Police investigations continue.

The report furthermore stated that three-year-old Joevi Nambahu was run over by the trailer attached to a Toyota double cab pickup which was being driven by his father at Oshivelo on Sunday.

“He was rushed to the Oshivelo clinic, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police investigations continue,” said the report.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old male employee of Ohorongo Cement at Tsumeb was arrested after he was found in possession of an ATM card cloning device, a card flashing device, five micro SIM card-cutters, two laptops, a scanner, two hard drives, one police date stamp from the Tsumeb Police Station, as well as several ATM cards and SIM cards.
