Venaani slams commercial banks for profiteering

The leader of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), McHenry Venaani, has accused commercial banks of profiteering at the expense of Namibians

“This matter is very serious. Soon we are swearing in new members of parliament. All these young people here are renting. People earning N$40 000 a month are renting because they cannot afford houses,” he said on Friday.

Venaani attributed this to the lack of financing members of parliament and called for urgent action to address banks profiteering in Namibia.

Swapo member of parliament Philipus Katamelo said lawmakers need to stop creating “a mess”, citing the profiteering of banks as a result of making laws without considering ordinary Namibians.

He said laws that burden Namibians should be repealed.

Katamelo said the overcharging and profiteering of commercial banks must be relooked and corrected.
