It’s a hot afternoon and you have just come home from work. The WiFi connection is strong (or perhaps you may have a lot of data bundles saved up) and all you want to do is sit back, relax and check out some Vine videos.
For the next hour and a half, you’re glued to your phone and you’re clutching your belly in agony because the humour levels are too much to handle. And in this sudden bout of laughter, your child grabs your phone and he/she is traumatised for the next six seconds of his/her life because you were looking at an offensive video.
Oh, how scarred that poor child is. But to avoid mishaps such as these, Vine has created a new version specifically catering for children. Because hey, you can’t always censor what goes on in your phone (that secret folder called ‘Do Not Open’. Yes, we know it’s there!)
The Vine app promises to censor out crude jokes and inappropriate vines and provide family-friendly videos instead. All content on VineKids is handpicked exclusively from Vine headquarters, so if you don’t want your child to play in the rain even though they mumble, moan, cry and throw tantrums about it, you can pass on your phone or tablet and let them laugh their hearts out. That means, no more twerking, swearing, or violence.
The idea of Vine Kids is said to have come about when employees were discussing their children who loved to watch vines, and because of the popularity of this idea, it came to life. Clips you might expect to find include Elmo from ‘Sesame Street’ and other sorts of anime that are aimed at entertaining your child. To get a hold of this awesome app, find it at the Apple Store on iTunes for free.
