Volleyball for All draws the crowds

Yet another successful FNB – Insurance DTS Volleyball for All event took place for the 41st time on Saturday 15 March at the DTS Sports Field in Olympia, Windhoek.

A total of 192 teams in the 6–a–side mixed category (minimum of 2 women per court), and 24 teams in the 4–a-side mixed Pro category entered

this biggest one day volleyball event on the African continent, with close to 650 games played on 20 courts.

In a press release issued on Monday,  DTS thanked the main sponsor FNB Insurance and the co-sponsor, Future Media which added more value to the event, contributing to the coverage countrywide.

“Rent-a-drum made sure the premises were clean at all times, and thanks to Paramedics from OSH-Med, who treated injuries and bruises. John Meinert Printing sponsored the printing of the programme. JayCee Entertainment supplied not only crystal clear sound, but also a big LED screen which was updated with the latest scores and group standings,” the press release states. 

“A big thank as well to our court sponsors: African Marketing, APS, Bokomo, Diaz Fishing, ENS, 99FM, Fresh FM, Hakahana, Hitradio Namibia, Liqui Fruit, New Living, Omulungu Radio, Nova 103.5, One Africa TV, Radio Wave, RFS Tigers, SCE, Maerua Superspar, Telepassport, V5 Digital and Windhoek Draught,” it added. 

An event of this magnitude would not be possible without the teamwork of all DTS members and helpers, organizers, referees and workers. Big thanks goes to Transworld Container Solutions for supplying the Sales Office container.

The prize winners are as follows:

1. Gold medal and goodie bags from FNB Insurance: Sky Hunters (34–32 in the final).

2. Silver Medal and goodie bags from FNB Insurance: Iron Wings.

3. Bronze medal and goodie bags from FNB Insurance: Rent a Drum Sache A.

Best Dressed Team: Team Blind Side Blockers: Maerua Superspar Hamper.

Best Organized Team: Teams from WIS (Windhoek International School) – Balls from OTB Sport.

Best Team Spirit: Team Hollard Life: Hampers from Hakahana.

Friendliest Team: V5 Digital: Hamper from African Marketing.

Four-a-side category: 

1 Afrocat Lions: N$ 10 000

2 Active Performer: N$7 500

3 FNBIB Dynamite: N$5 000

4 COW A: N$3 000

DTS also thanked the tournament director Heiko Kesselmann, the programme coordinator, Rudi Steinbach, and the announcers in the tower, Gunnar von Dewitz and Axel Deinat.
