Wanderers the team to beat 

Wanderers host WHS Old Boys in a top of the log clash in the T20 Premier League at 09h00 tomorrow.

With the first round of the T20 league having been completed, Wanderers are the only unbeaten team remaining and lead the log on 12 points, with Old Boys four points behind in second place. 

When the two sides met in their first round encounter on 12 October, Wanderers posted a comprehensive 75-run victory when most of their top order batters made solid contributions. Nico Davin scored with 57 runs, while Nyasha Nyashadzaishe added 32, JJ Smit 21 and Lohan Louwrens 20 in a sizable total of 177. 

Old Boys never came close, as they were all out for 102 with only Henry Oliver (28) and Grant Henry (27 not out) offering much resistance, while Bernard Scholtz was the chief destroyer, taking four wickets for eight runs. 

With other national stalwarts like Karl Birkenstock, JC Balt and Michau du Preez, as well as upcoming national players like Jan Izak de Villiers and PD Blignaut in their midst, Wanderers have a lot of experience, quality and depth and are already clear favourites to win the title. 

Old Boys, by contrast, are rebuilding with a young side while they have also lost some of their stalwarts to other clubs. National wicketkeeper and top order batter Zane Green and national u19 batter Gerhard Janse van Rensburg have joined United, while all-rounder Donovan Zealand has joined CCD. 

National u19 captain and all rounder Zacheo Jane van Vuuren has been named captain, while other national u19 players in the squad include spinner Faf du Plessis and pace bowler Jack Brassell.

Old Boys, however also have a lot of experience in players like national captain Gerhard Erasmus, JP Kotze, Malan Kruger, Shaun Fouche and Tangeni Lungameni and could give Wanderers a run for their money tomorrow. 

In the second match at 14h00 third-placed CCD take on bottom-of-the-log Trustco United. 

CCD won their first leg encounter by seven wickets when they restricted United to 154/3 and then reached the winning target for ther loss of only three wickets. 

In that match CCD’s young opener Ryan Moffet scored a fine 70 off 38 balls while Joshuan Julies added 53, and with experienced players like Pikkie Ya France, Joshuan Julies and Ben Shikongo and up-and-coming youngsters like Junior Kariata, Simon Shikongo and Tangi Nuuyoma in their midst they have a talented and well-balanced team, although they are still missing their star batter Nicol Loftie-Eaton due to injury.

United have lost all their matches to date but they will be hoping for a turn of luck against CCD. 

In Green, Henry Hayes, Erik Lintvelt and national all-rounder Handre Klazinga they have a fine batting line-up, while u19 star Janse van Rensburg could also return after missing the start of the season due to injury.
