Water deaths claim three lives in North

DROWNINGS in northern Namibia claimed the lives of three people – two children aged three, and one 51-year-old man – on Thursday, the Namibian Police announced in Windhoek yesterday.

A three-year-old boy, who was among a group of children looking after donkeys, is thought to have drowned in a water pan at the village of Okathitukiimona in the Okahao area of the Omusati Region at around 18h00 on Thursday, according to information released by Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Stephan Nuuyi.
The boy was named as Petrus Iitula.
The incident is still being investigated, according to Nuuyi.
At an unknown time on the same day, three-year-old Rauna Aukus allegedly drowned in a water bucket at Ontunda, a village in the Onayena constituency of the Oshana Region, Nuuyi also announced.
Also on Thursday, a 51-year-old man, Mushogola Nghipumbudhi was found drowned in a water pond at Oshinyadhila No 4 at Ongwediva, Nuuyi made public.
He said that Nghipumbudhi had last been seen at one of the cuca shops at Oshinyadhila at about 13h00 that day.
Nghipumbudhi was suffering from epilepsy, Nuuyi added, indicating that the investigation of his death was also continuing.
