Water supply disruptions at Walvis Bay

The Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) has alerted residents and businesses at Walvis Bay of temporary water supply disruptions caused by a power outage in the Kuiseb area.
According to NamWater spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata, the issue was first reported on Wednesday morning by NamWater’s Kuiseb Artisans Team.
Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the outage originated from Erongo Regional Electricity Distributor (RED).
“NamWater immediately notified Erongo RED, and their team has been working to identify and resolve the issue,” Ndamanomhata says.
NamWater is currently unable to replenish the reservoir supplying Walvis Bay, as all boreholes remain without power, Ndamanomhata says.
“Once power is restored, we will immediately restart all boreholes to resume normal water supply,” he says.
In the meantime, NamWater urges the public to use water sparingly until the situation is resolved.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” Ndamanomhata assures.
