//KHARAS-based Young Brazilians head coach Galiel Pelwin says they have no reason to undermine second-tier division outfit Oryza Sativa FC in their upcoming PsTBet NFA Cup quarter-final clash at Oshakati over the weekend.
The Katima Mulilo sensation Oryza Sativa FC has shocked many with their run in the PsTBet Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup, earning them respect from more formidable sides as they brushed off Life Fighters FC in the Round of 16 by a solitary goal to progress to the cup’s quarter-final stage.
Speaking to Desert Radio earlier this week, Pelwin admitted that they have not seen Oryza Sativa FC in action, since they have been playing at different venues.
“We are not going to undermine them simply because they are a second-division side. We do not have any information on them, but only got their results against Life Fighters FC.
“We will take each game at a time, and we are seriously preparing for that encounter as we want to reach the semi-final stage of the competition,” the head coach said.
Pelwin said the team is committed to bringing the trophy to Karasburg.
He said if all goes according to plan and progress to the semi-final showdown, nothing would stopping them from clinching the coveted trophy.
“Yes, we have a few knocks – not that serious as they are being attended to by the medical team. The mission is to take each game with the meaningful approach of clinching a victory.”
Okahandja United FC tutelage Richard Gariseb’s charges have the daunting task of overcoming Khomas Nampol FC in their quarter-final clash.
Weighing on the upcoming encounter, Gariseb said the campaign has not been easy though they recorded some convincing victories over Lüderitz team Young Stars and Julinho Sporting FC – both by 3-1 margins.
“We have played Khomas Nampol FC, during which they beat us in the away league encounter, but held them to a one-all draw at home.”
He said Khomas Nampol has had a superb run in the 2023/24 football season, however, that would not deter his players from delivering a sweet victory over Nampol.
“We certainly know their style of play, but it is a different ball game, and we expect them to have a different approach and will certainly have our very own unique approach against them,” Gariseb said.
The coach said they have a few injuries, but added they have registered 25 players in the league, who are equally capable of producing the desired results.
