Namibian skincare brand Wellem Cosmetics, founded by Wellem Kapenda in 2021, has introduced a new product: the MAITA Hydrating Face Sheet Mask.

This marks an exciting expansion for the brand, which has built its reputation on vegan, inclusive and sustainable skincare solutions.

The latest addition, named in honour of Kapenda’s mother, Martha Niigambo Kapenda, is designed to hydrate, cleanse and give skin a radiant glow. Kapenda says: “The mask represents authenticity and a refreshing feel – qualities my mother embodies. It was only fitting to honour her with this product.” As one of the first Namibian sheet masks on the market, it sets a new benchmark for the local beauty industry.

Kapenda’s decision to expand the product line was driven by listening to consumer needs and aligning with the brand’s vision to revolutionise skincare. “It’s vital to understand why you enter a business and how you aim to solve a problem,” he says.

“This focus on addressing real needs led to the creation of the face sheet mask, which is suitable for both professional and personal use,” he adds.

Developing the product came with its challenges, particularly in ensuring a distinctly Namibian identity while navigating limited local production infrastructure. Kapenda overcame these hurdles by collaborating with accredited professionals to ensure the mask’s quality and safety. Dermatologists and aestheticians tested and approved the product, reinforcing its credibility.

In addition to offering high-quality skincare, Wellem Cosmetics aims to inspire and empower young entrepreneurs in Namibia. Kapenda envisions the brand as more than a product line, hoping to create opportunities for aspiring business owners. “I want to provide resources for testing, marketing and business creation to help the next generation succeed,” he says. He also expressed gratitude to institutions like the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board for supporting local businesses.

The MAITA Hydrating Face Sheet Mask will be available for pre-sale next week on Wellem Cosmetics’ digital platforms. It will also be stocked exclusively at Brimstone Medical Practice in Windhoek, making it accessible to local consumers.

This expansion solidifies Wellem Cosmetics as a player in Namibia’s beauty industry, combining innovation, sustainability and empowerment to make a lasting impact.
