Windhoek man accused of killing wife with scissors

Helen Onesmus

A Windhoek man allegedly stabbed his wife to death with a pair of scissors in the city’s Rocky Crest area on Friday.

According to a police spokesperson, the suspect, who is believed to be in his late 40’s, allegedly stabbed his wife, aged 43, multiple times, resulting in her death in their backyard flat.

The woman has been identified as Helen Onesmus. Her family confirmed they were informed of her death.

Namibian Police spokesperson chief inspector Elifas Kuwinga confirmed the incident on Saturday.

“It is alleged that the married couple, who were in the process of a divorce, were fighting in the flat and as a consequence, the male suspect stabbed the wife with scissors resulting in the victim succumbing to the stab wounds,” Kuwinga said.

He also reported that the suspect attempted to take his own life and is currently receiving treatment at Katutura Intermediate Hospital under police guard.

The police found a pair of scissors, two smartphones and three knives alongside blood stains at the scene.

The suspect’s condition is reported to be stable.
