A woman (43) appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after allegedly luring a minor into the toilet to perform a sexual act.
Petronella Swartz appeared before magistrate Surita Savage on charges of rape and contravening the Combating of Immoral Practices Act 21 of 1980.
Swartz is accused of luring a boy (6) into the toilet and sexually assaulting him at Otjomuise in Windhoek on Sunday between 14h00 and 15h00.
She was arrested on Sunday and is currently being held at the Klein Windhoek police station.
The case has been postponed to 11 September for further investigation.
The state objected to the granting of bail as it is a serious offence and will not be in the public interest for Swartz to be released.
Swartz is, however, still able to make a formal bail application.
She has said that she will apply for legal aid.
Prosecutor Edel Upindi appeared for the state.
