Woman arrested, accused of selling wild bird meat

A resident of Oshivelo in the Oshikoto region has been arrested for allegedly selling the meat of wild birds.
The arrest happened on Sunday at a bar at Oshivelo, the police reported.

The suspect, identified as Josephine Johannes, appeared in court on Monday and was granted bail in an amount of N$5 000.
Oshikoto region police inspector Ellen Nehale reported that Johannes was allegedly found in possession of cooked or grilled wild birds.

According to the police, Johannes was found in possession of five guinea fowls, 33 francolins and nine doves, during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the police at Oshivelo and Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism officials, Nehale said.
