Woman arrested for hacking man with panga

Police in the Ohangwena region have arrested a woman for attempted murder after she allegedly hacked a man on his head with a panga.

The incident happened at Ondjabalala village on Sunday, reports the police.

The suspect (38) and the victim (30) reportedly argued earlier in the day and a physical altercation ensued. However according to the police, the victim followed the suspect to her house, where he was attacked with a panga before he fled.

“He was found in his sleeping room the following day, lying in a pool of blood, in critical condition. He was transported to the Engela hospital, where he is currently admitted,” says Ohangwena police regional commander Ottilie Kashuupulwa.

The suspect has been arrested and is due to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
