Woman raped, killed at Oshikoto

A 34-year-old woman from Farm Ses in the Oshikoto region was allegedly raped and killed at Ondeya Farm in Guinas constituency on Saturday.

According to a report by Oshikoto police regional commander commissioner Theopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku on Saturday, it is alleged that on Friday, the deceased came from Farm Ombili, with her children and a cousin, to Ondera Farm for a wedding that was slated to take place on Saturday.

“When the deceased, her children and cousin arrived at the bride’s place, they found people already celebrating. The deceased was seen dancing around.

“The last time the deceased was seen by the cousin was when she was going around asking for a cigarette, and the cousin did not know where the deceased went until Saturday morning, when she noticed that the two children were alone and the mother was not there,” Kalompo-Nashikaku said.

Kalompo-Nashikaku said someone from the house went to relieve himself in the bush early in the morning, where he observed a pair of sandals on the way. There were also marks “like someone was being dragged”.

“The witness followed where the person was dragged to and he saw a naked body lying a few meters ahead. He immediately went back in the house to inform people of the discovery and they alerted the police. The body was found laying on her back in a pool of blood,” the commissioner said, adding that they suspect she was raped and killed.

She said the body was stabbed several times with an unknown object, with multiple wounds on the neck, right abdomen and on the left side of the chest.

The deceased was identified as Petrika Axurus.

Next of kin have been informed and the suspect is arrested.
