Woman takes own life at Kavango

Fidelius Engelbert Nepemba

The relatives of a woman from Kapako in the Kavango West region found her dead in her room on Wednesday.

Kavango West regional police chief inspector Raimbeth Muronga has confirmed that the woman was found in her room at Sikondo village.

“The deceased was identified as Fidelius Engelbert Nepemba (22),” he says.

Muronga says no suicide note was found at the scene, but preliminary investigations suggest that she could have taken her life following an argument.

“No foul play is suspected,” he says.

Nepemba’s uncle, Johannes Karwapa, says the incident has left the family devastated.

He says she had a misunderstanding with her cousin on Tuesday, but that this was not serious.

“We do not know what pushed her to this,” he says.

Karwapa says Nepemba was discovered by her aunt in the morning after her cousin got no response from her.

“The cousin went to tell the aunt, saying ‘Nepemba is not responding to me, maybe she is still angry at me due to the misunderstanding we had last night’,” he says.

Nepemba’s remains were transported to the Rundu State Mortuary.
