Yana Haenisch crowned first runner-up at Miss Supranational

Namibian model Yana Haenisch was crowned the first runner-up at Miss Supranational 2019 in Silesia, Poland, last Friday.

Anntonia Porsild from Thailand won the contest. The 22-year-old is the first from her country to bag the title.

Indonesia’s Jessica Fitriana was announced as second runner-up. Janick Maceta from Peru and Gabriela de la Cruz from Venezuela completed the top five.

Miss Supranational began in 2009 in Plock, Poland. The first ever group of contestants came from almost 40 countries around the world. This year, 77 countries participated.

“What an amazing experience I had in Poland. I have learnt and grown so much during the three weeks of competing against 77 other countries. I am not perfect and made many mistakes during the show but I had so much fun and felt proud to carry the Namibian sash. Grateful for my placement and big congratulations to Miss Thailand for being crowned as our new queen. She is beautiful and truly deserving,” Haenisch said shortly after the pageant.
