Former Swapo member of parliament Patience Masua says young people who are elected to be in parliament cannot only be from Windhoek but should represent different parts of the country.
Masua said this in Windhoek on Monday during the Open Society Foundations (OSF) and Action Coalition-Namibia’s high-level meeting and panel discussion titled ‘The Land of the Brave’.
Masua says access to opportunities and education must be decentralised.
“Our young people representing us in parliament cannot only be from Windhoek. lt cannot only be young people who have access to these opportunities. It has to be decentralised opportunities because there are so many layers of injustice,” said Masua.
The engagement, which will run until 16 April, comes at a pivotal moment, as the country elected its first female president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, in December 2024.
