Zambezi health directorate receives medical boat

The United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has donated a new health service delivery boat to the Zambezi health directorate.

Health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula on Friday said the boat will improve healthcare access for remote communities by transporting health workers and patients in flood-prone areas and on islands.

“This donation marks an important milestone in our ongoing mission to provide integrated, affordable and quality health care services that are responsive to the needs of the public. It addresses a specific challenge of maritime transport,” Shangula said.

Shangula said the boat will make a particular impact in maternal and child focused health services, and addressing and managing disease outbreaks.
