Zambia beat Namibia

NAMIBIA suffered their first defeat at the Debmarine Netball Pent Series on Friday afternoon, going down 53-45 to Zambia.

In an exciting encounter, Zambia led from the start, but Namibia fought back and briefly took the lead in the second quarter.

Zambia however immediately regained the lead and pulled away in the second half to win the match quite comfortably in the end.

In a hectic start to the match, Zambia took a 4-1 lead but Namibia pulled back into contention to finish the first quarter 13-12 behind.

With Namibia’s fans going crazy, they drew level at 14-all and then 16-all before taking the lead at 17-16.

Zambia however immediately struck back to go 25-19 ahead before ending the second quarter with a commanding 30-22 lead.

Namibia fought back hard in the third quarter, reducing the gap to 39-34, but Zambia maintained their lead and held on to win 53-45.

In the day’s first match, Swaziland beat Botswana 39-32 in another exciting match.

Swaziland led 10-9 by the first quarter, 22-16 by half time, and 31-23 by the third quarter before completing a comfortable victory.
